Membership is now full.
The club will meet from Sunday 6th September with chess coaching provided for one hour in groups of 12. There will be a number of safety measures in place which I will clarify in due course.
We will run two sessions on a Sunday evening – 5.30-6.30 and 6.45 -7.45.
These will rotate on a fortnightly basis so we can accommodate 48 members. We will assign the groups when we have an idea of who wishes to join, and these will remain fixed until there is any further easing of restrictions.
On the week you don’t attend there will be an online tournament you will be expected to take part in on lichess (although we appreciate there may be mitigating circumstances as to why you can’t participate in a given week). These tournaments will be used to assess play and progress and feed into the coaching.
When restrictions are lifted, we will consider a restructure and inviting more children from the waiting list.
The cost of membership will be £70 again (for September 2020 to August 2021) payable before session one (details will be issued in due course on acceptance of membership). This includes membership of Alwoodley Community Association.
There will also be available a joint membership of Leeds Junior Chess Club and Alwoodley Chess Club, but I will release details of this in due course.
We will expect children to attend the sessions. If they can’t we will expect to be informed. Children who don’t attend without good reasons will have membership cancelled and their place offered to someone else. As usual, membership fees will be non-refundable.
